Summer is here, and updating your skincare and makeup routine is essential for these hot, humid months. Your summertime staples should preferably contain sunscreen for those hazardous sun rays that can be damaging to your skin over time. Also, invest in a foundation that isn’t heavy but will leave a light, skin-like coverage, so you no longer have to worry about sweating away your summer look. There are a great variety of light coverage foundations ranging from drugstore prices to high end, and Team NC is here to help!
Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation
This makeup does glide on and works beautifully (especially on top of a good moisturizer). I believe you can layer it to get better coverage but my skin only requires a little foundation to even out the skin tone! It feels like a far more expensive foundation (like one I have that was almost triple the money) so I am very happy with the purchase and would purchase it again! – LBDDiaries
Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum
I bought this hoping it would be everything I wanted out of a tinted moisturizer, and it was. The color stays pretty consistent throughout the day, though obvious absorbtion through the skin happens. Its lightweight, a little bit oily, with just the right amount of color to cover redness. Since I no longer worry about blemishes, all I really care for is consistent color and even skin tone. This product is worth the money and I will definitely order again! – Erin
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream 8-in-1 Skin Perfector
It matches when I am a little paler or a littler darker than usual. I don’t have much acne, and I don’t believe it would cover acne very well, but I have very deep pores and this covers them just as good as normal foundation. It is very lightweight and does NOT settle into wrinkles or pores, which I love. My T-zone still tends to get oily because this is not a matte or powder foundation – but I personally don’t mind because it looks less “makeup-y” and I just blot the oil when it happens.
I think the dewy look is so fresh and pretty and very in right now, and this gives you just that. It also moisturizes so my skin isn’t dry or itchy while wearing it. I highly recommend this stuff. – Brie
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20
This is the only foundation I have used for the past few years. I’ve tried other drugstore brands and many high end ones as well and they have all caused mild breakouts if used daily for more than a day in a row.
This foundation is the only foundation that doesn’t make my face break out so I can actually wear it day after day.
The coverage is mild to medium, so if you’re looking for full coverage then this isn’t for you.
It also does oxidize, but not as terribly as high end brands have for me. And the color that this oxidizes to actually matches well with my skin, so I guess I lucked out on that.
The formula is quite runny. I’ve gotten accustomed to it but someone used to thicker and creamier foundations might have a hard time getting used to this.
Overall, I love this foundation and it’s amazing for the price. – Gloria Cook
Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen
Really like this tinted moisturizer. I’ve also used Intellishade, and this product provides a bit more coverage, which I appreciate because of splotchiness on my cheeks. It doesn’t completely cover that, but it’s good enough for the majority of my days. I have had a bit of breakouts, but I’m going to attribute that to a humid, hot summer and stress at work – Kay West
