5 Reasons Why You Should Start Future Journaling

Want your goals and dreams to come true? Try future journaling. Future journaling is another form of release for you to envision yourself accomplishing your goals in the future. It focuses on the act of positivity, self-care and goal orientation. If you want to visualize yourself winning that reward or taking back control of your health, here are 5 reasons why you should start future journaling.

You focus on you

Most of the time we tend to focus on other people and things before ourselves–our families, friends, a job, bills, etc. This journal is for YOU. Celebrate yourself and your wins by placing yourself in that special moment. Write about you, talk about you, and celebrate you. Treat it as a form of self-care and self-love.

You create a positive mindset

Positivity is key. Creating a positive mindset brings good vibes all around you. It keeps you happy and filled with abundance. Use future journaling to help you stay positive. You can also write positive affirmations and wishes you hope for the future. For example, one of your bullet points could be “I am in Costa Rica with my family as we spend time in paradise to reconnect and bond together.” Putting these personal moments inside your journal is important, not just your work goals.

You challenge yourself

Putting these words to paper gives it power. Yes, you are putting your wishes and dreams into this journal. You are also putting yourself in those shoes of the dreams. This helps you challenge yourself to get there. You can also think of more in-depth questions about your goals. A good journaling challenge to try is the 21-day future journaling challenge by photographer Kaye McCoy aka @cookayemonster. She is one of the queens of future journaling on Instagram, and she has great questionnaire prompts for you to dig deep. Check out her Instagram highlight for a few examples.

You put things to action

Instead of thinking about it, be about it. Personally, I feel once you place something on paper it manifests even stronger. You start brewing the ideas in your head and putting them on paper making them come to life. Now that you have put it on paper, you can create your action plan. Let’s say in your future journal you write “I want to get a raise and a better office.” Okay, let’s put it to action. What can you do to improve your work level that you EARN that raise? How can I talk about getting that raise? Start the thinking process of the plan and put it together in your journal.

You trust yourself

You know yourself better than anyone. What would your future self tell your past self? That you accomplished that goal? You stayed positive and your active plan worked? In this journal, this is where you imagine your future self talking to you right now. You placed yourself in the future, you put those plans together and they worked. Trusting yourself was one of the easiest things you could have done. Now, let’s get to work on your future journal for the new year. Celebrate yourself, stay true to who you are and accomplish those special moments for you.
