Bumble Bizz: The Women-Empowered Answer to Networking

Have you ever heard the phrase, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know.”? Experts say that more than 70 percent of people in their current professions were able to get there through networking. Some sources even cite the percentage as even higher. Who you know tends to be very important in many professional areas. However, Bumble Bizz is a new way to make the networking experience feel less like an awkward conversation and more like catching up with an old friend.

Founder of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Herd, used her experiences as Co-founder of Tinder to create the woman empowered Bumble platform. Even though Bumble began as a dating app, the goal was always to venture into other types of connections. Bumble Bizz isn’t trying to replace face-to-face networking, but give women a safe place to make connections and to get rid of those awkward conversations.

What is Bumble Bizz?

Bumble has unveiled its latest addition to its social platform called Bumble Bizz. The new feature encourages women to make the first move and aims to eliminate inappropriate interactions. Bumble Bizz was created after Bumble users expressed concerns over inappropriate messages they received from men on other networking sites. Using the same women-led concept that Bumble established with their dating app, they’ve designed a safe way for women to network without the fear of sexual harassment.

How do you use it?

Bumble Bizz works exactly like regular Bumble, by swiping. Users are prompted to enter their skills, examples of their work and what they’re looking for. The app also ensures that the photos uploaded are verified so you can trust that the person behind the profile is actually who they say they are. After matching with someone on the app, you have approximately 24 hours to make the first move or the match will disappear. Once you initiate a conversation, the other person also has 24 hours to respond or the match will disappear.

One of the cool features of Bumble Bizz is that it’s located within the same app as Bumble and Bumble BFF. This means that you only have to download one app and not three. If you only need to use Bumble Bizz, you can completely remove the dating mode from the app. You can always enable it again at a later time if needed. The best part about having three modes in one app is that they never overlap. You don’t have to worry about your professional profile showing up on Bumble and vice versa. Bumble Bizz also has a “Women Bizz” option that allows women to limit their search to other women only.

Bumble Bizz Events

This March Bumble is hosting “Women in Bizz” dinners all across the country. These dinners will spotlight women who have made their mark in traditionally male-dominated fields such as finance, automotive, and energy. These fields are extremely competitive for women and “Women in Bizz” hopes to foster positive communication between women who desire careers in these fields and careers elsewhere. Therefore, each woman invited to attend the dinner is strongly encouraged to bring a mentee with them.
