If you’ve read the in your face, tell it like it is book, Girl Wash Your Face, then you know the exact tone we’re exuding because girl, it’s time to stop making excuses and start getting to it. The book being referenced by author, Rachel Hollis, would make any girl want to get off their butt and start making changes to achieve the goals they’ve put out into the world. We often need a good pep talk, which makes Hollis’ book a good one.
Although a good talking to does justice temporarily, it’s time we stop making excuses and stop blocking our own blessings with fear, permanently. This is why you need to get out of your own way.
If you can’t be real with yourself, how do you expect to be real with anybody else… ever?
How many of you have gone through a patch, one full of uncreativity, procrastination, and a piss poor attitude? How long did it last? A few days, a week, a month even? The only thing allowing you to get back to business was a pity party hosted by none other than yourself. Am I right? Now count how many times you’ve gone through this same cycle in the last year. I’m sure it’s a few too many. Stop making excuses for yourself.
The longer you wallow, the more time you’re leaving for someone to achieve the very thing you wanted to do. Leave your doubt, your worry, and your mental blocks at the door because success thrives off positivity and that’s the only energy we need.
Sis, we all have the same 24 hours though.
Time doesn’t stop for anyone or anything. The biggest excuse you can make is that there isn’t enough time in the day. Beyoncé has the same 24 hours as you do. Although you may not have the same resources, of course, the concept remains relevant. It’s time to maximize your time, working smarter, not harder. A Miracle Morning (a term coined by Hal Elrod) teaches us that in order to have a miracle morning, it means having had time to meditate, journal, daily devotional, reading something aligning with self-help and prayer to name a few.
Changing the trajectory of your mindset will make everything seem more achievable right before your eyes. Your time should never be an excuse anymore. Yes, we are busy, but the one who wakes up early and plans their day would already be ahead of the game in all other aspects.
It’s time to stop making excuses and stop being the roadblock to our own success. How many times have you thought to yourself, “my time has passed”, “it’s too late for me”, or “I don’t have the right figure”. All of these are lies that you’ve been projecting on yourself. Now think about the last time you actually heard someone tell you that any of this was true, or that this was even anyone’s thought. It wasn’t. You’ve put it in the atmosphere so frequently that it’s become your steady frequency. It’s a poor excuse and it is, from here on out, no longer your excuse to claim.
It’s time to move up and out the of way!
You’ve read a handful of excuses by now. Unfortunately, the list can go on. The hope here was to motivate you. For you to realize that it doesn’t matter if John says your arms are too big. Doesn’t matter if you have no idea where to even start on that new business venture.
Your only objective at the moment should be to just start. Working from home has been the norm for some, but the excuses that you “have all day” to get it done is a poor one and it’s time we retire it altogether. Get up and do it now, before the momentum and the thoughts leave your mind.
Girl, stop making excuses, and just make it happen. You will be proud and you will thank yourself for it later.
