Coming from humble beginnings, this R&B songstress aspires to touch lives through her vulnerability and soulfulness.
Where it all started
The East St. Louis native went viral back in 2017 after remixing Kodak Black’s “Roll in Peace.” Within the first month of its release, Greene’s “Roll in Peace” cover gained over 3.5 million plays on Soundcloud. The single even landed on Billboard’s Top 15 Hot R&B Songs chart. Continuing to release covers, she quickly drew in more fans and a massive musical platform. He single “Myself” showed her impressive songwriting skills to the world and was the single that got her signed.
At just 20-years old, Layton Greene has experienced trauma from heartbreak to homelessness. Greene often shares her experiences are what drives her passion for music. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Mary J. Blige and soul singer Keisha Cole, Greene turned to music as a way to share her story. Soon after the release of ‘Myself,’ the R&B songstress was flooded with phone calls from record labels.
Greene signed with Quality Control in February 2019 and is officially the first R&B artist signed to the label. Within a few months of being signed with Quality Control, she released her hit single “Leave Em Alone” (ft. Lil Baby, City Girls, and PnB Rock). The single quickly racked up more than eight million streams and is now featured in Spotify & Apple Music’s top R&B playlists. With her career on the rise and much more of her story to tell, QC’s R&B princess released the emotionally driven debut EP Tell Ya Story in September. Major studio producer G-Styles worked on several of the tracks, serving as an Executive Producer along with Quality Control’s Pierre “P” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee.
Tell Ya Story EP

Greene has talked about her troubled past and how her circumstances ultimately brought her to music. The handwritten lyrics on the EP’s cover reveal painful, childhood memories and explain how the vocalist once blamed herself for the chaos in her life. She admits her truth from a missing father, drug addiction, domestic and sexual abuse, and homelessness. From co-writing each track of her EP, working with influential songwriters like Ne-Yo and being co-signed by Kehlani and Kylie Jenner, this rising R&B star is establishing herself as an artist to keep an eye on.
